Our March Steward of the Month is Debbie Guido. Most of you know Debbie as one of our active choir members, but what you probably don't know is that Debbie is also very committed to our Sunday Church School as well.
Debbie has been a member of St. Mark for 16 years, and has been Lutheran her whole life. Growing up, Debbie's family moved every two years while her father was in the Air Force, living in various places in the United States and also abroad, finally settling in South Jersey attending St. John's Lutheran Church in Westville, NJ.
Over the years that Debbie has been a member of St. Mark, she has served on Council and as Secretary to Council. She's been on the Evangelism Team, the Mutual Ministry Team, and the Christian Education Team. Debbie also served as head counter for many years and was a Sunday School teacher. Currently, Debbie uses her God-given gifts by singing and ringing in our Chancel Choir and Bell Choir, and provides special music throughout the year. She presently provides "record keeping services" for the Sunday Church School by handling all the attendance and offering accounting every Sunday morning. In addition, she participates in the HomeFront meals prepared and delivered by our Sunday Church School. Debbie said that St. Mark's activities in our community are important to her.
Debbie and husband, Joe (who currently serves on Council), will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary in September, and they are the proud parents of Andrea (16) and Matthew (13). Both Andrea and Matt are active in the Youth Group and enjoy the activities and friendships there.
Debbie is a recent graduate of Rider University, and when she's not volunteering at St. Mark, she is currently a formulations chemist in the Animal Formulations Group with Fort Dodge Animal Health where she has worked in different capacities for the last 20 years.
When asked why she chose St. Mark's, simply stated she said "because it feels like home". When asked why St. Mark's is so special to her, she says, "Ever since my children were born, church has been a major part of my life. It is a source of great strength during good times and especially bad. I still feel the love from everyone in regards to the loss of my Mother. If it wasn't for the support I received from Pastor and this congregation, I would not have come through it grounded".
